The Kimberley Birding Tour - From Broome to Kununurra

On this 11 day birding tour of the Kimberley we’ll seek out endemics, specialties and stunning scenery that’s unlike anywhere else. Starting in Broome, surrounded by shorebirds and mangroves, we’ll make the most of this birding mecca. With our lists already swelling, we will begin to move north along the Gibb River Road into the Kimberley proper. Picking up northern Australian specialties in savannah woodlands and gorge country as we move towards the Mitchell Plateau and the home of Black Grasswrens and Kimberley Honeyeaters. This amazing area is the highlight of the trip with unique habitats harbouring a wonderful variety of species difficult to see elsewhere. More is to come as we head east towards Kununurra. Gouldian Finches and Purple-crowned Fairywrens await as well as a trip out onto Lake Argyle. The Kununurra area is also an exceptional birding area in its own right, with White-quilled Rock Pigeons and Sandstone Shrikethrush seen readily not far from town. Pictorella Mannikins make for exceptional photographic targets alongside other finches in this region. A comprehensive itinerary and species list can be found below.
