Starting off in Perth, we’ll visit some of the local lakes that make up a huge expanse on the Swan Coastal Plain. We’ll then make our big trip east towards Kalgoorlie to seek out the Copperback Quail-Thrush (amongst others - see the bird list below) in the glowing Great Western Woodlands and then out towards Cocklebiddy for a trip down to the Eyre Bird Observatory, famous for its Pink Cockatoo population. Heading out onto the Nullarbor proper, we’ll travel up and down wonderful and unique escarpments towards Eucla and beyond for a chance to see some local mammals such as the Southern Hairy-nosed Wombats, Red Kangaroos and check over the Bunda Cliffs for some early Southern Right Whales. As we move through the coppery trees we’ll be heading south towards the white sand beaches of Esperance to embark on the coastal stretch of the tour with the beautiful scenery of the Recherche Archipelago in the background of Cape Le Grand and Cape Arid. The coastal heath also holds Southern Emu-wrens, Western Fieldwrens and Red-eared Firetail which we will search for before continuing west to Bremer Bay and the Fitzgerald River National Park, Cheynes Beach, Pemberton, Busselton, Dryandra and back to Perth!
