Pilbara And Mid-West Birding Tour Australia
(Sandhill Grasswren, Pilbara Grasswren & Grey Honeyeater)
On this 11 day birding tour of The Pilbara and Western Australia’s Mid-West we’ll seek out endemics, specialists and spectacular scenery that’s unlike anywhere else. This trip offers the option to add on a Dirk Hartog island or Exmouth Marine extension. Departing from Perth we’ll first visit the waterbirds of Herdsman Lake and other local wetlands before heading north through the wheatbelt. We’ll reach the edge of the Great Western Woodlands in the Mount Gibson, carry on to Mulga and then overnight at Paynes Find to seek out White-backed Swallows, Southern Scrub-Robins and Brown-headed Honeyeaters in the Mallee areas and in a more open woodland habitat before continuing on to the salt lakes of Cue that butt up against bare stoney plains - perfect spots that are teeming with unique birds. Waking up in station country in Murchison we’ll explore before heading towards the world heritage area of Shark Bay and Monkey Mia. Our last few days will be spent traveling to Carnarvon, Exmouth, Nanutarra, Karijini and ending our trip in Newman.
